For Teachers
Next courses for teachers will be in Jan 2012.
SMART Education works with schools to help children. When a child is referred to us through the school we aim to see them as quickly as possible and will have a full written report posted out to the parents within one week. We open on Saturdays and during holiday periods, to ensure that we do not have long waiting lists, so children are seen in a few weeks, rather than months.
Having a short waiting time and a prompt report means that teachers can work with the children straight away to improve their learning.
What are the advantages of SMART assessments for the school?
- Independent screening can verify school/teacher tests
- We can advise on the best approach for support teachers to work with the student
- It helps the school decide which students should be forwarded for a NEPS report
- It can help students who are waiting for a NEPS report
- As screening is available during the holidays students do not miss vital class time
- Parents get an immediate result

When should I send a child for screening?
While many experts say that a diagnosis of dyslexia can only be made after the age of 8 yrs there are many early indicators from the age of 3 yrs. The sooner a child is screened the quicker you can put in place a programme to help them learn to read. For younger children why not use our checklist.
